Town's Former Players gather at Poolfoot Farm for monthly meet

3 May 2024

Fleetwood Town's Former Players Association were back at Poolfoot Farm on Thursday morning, and with the sun shining on the Fylde Coast, spirits were high in the camp.

Back to the meeting at Poolfoot Farm, Stuart Murdoch gave a short speech, handing out apologises to those who couldn't make the event, whilst also informing the group who had a birthday upcoming in the month of April.

During the meeting, ormer player Reg Smallbone took centre stage and talked about his career at Fleetwood Town, whilst telling funny anecdotes from times gone by with some of his former teammates in the room. Reg was full of praise for Club President, Jim Betmead - and talked about his willingness to never give a loose ball up, whilst also being a nightmare for defenders back in the day.

With regular Quiz Master Kevin Byrne not in attendance this month, it was up to up Vice Chairman to ask the questions to the room, with the theme being old TV shows and movies from years gone by - some had a very good Steptoe and Son impression (you had to be there to see it!)

With a team picture taken, the meeting finished off with warm brews and conversations between those inside Poolfoot Farm, with many looking back at old photos and reminising for times gone by.

We'd like to thank all the members who turned up for the monthly meeting this time out. We look forward to welcoming you back on Thursday 6 June 2024 for a 10am kick-off with more fun and games to take place!
