Inaugural meeting of Former Players Association at Poolfoot Farm

4 August 2017

Sponsored by

Thursday saw the inaugural gathering of former Fleetwood Town players at the club’s training complex, Poolfoot Farm.

Eight senior members were in attendance, and it is hoped that numbers will increase on a monthly basis.

Those who appeared for an informal gathering, which included light refreshments were, Thomas White, Andy Haddock, Rob Thomas, Bobby Cuthbertson, Tom Willacy, Steve Brooks, Graham Yeo and Stuart Murdoch.

The former players were happy to talk about the bygone times of Fleetwood Town as well as meet and converse with current Cod Army players Alex Cairns and Bobby Grant. The Association’s administrator Tony Collier commented afterwards: “It was great to see some of our former players together to recall previous games and former playing colleagues.

"A common thread of conversation was how impressed the lads were with the facilities at Poolfoot. Several mentioned too how very different things were now to their own playing days! Whilst the association is very much in its infancy, we feel that we have made a positive first step and look forward to greeting new members at Poolfoot on the first Thursday in each month from 10am until 12 noon."

The next meeting is scheduled for 7th September and all former Fleetwood Town players are welcome. For further details please email either tony.collier@fleetwoodtownfc.com or stuart.murdoch@fleetwoodtownfc.com
