Fleetwood Town can confirm our first pre-season friendly ahead of the 2024/25 season, which will see the Cod Army travel to Bamber Bridge on Saturday 6 July.
Charlie Adam's side will travel to the Sir Tommy Finney Stadium in early July to face the side from the Northern Premier League Premier Division, kicking things off nicely for the 2024/25 season.
The Cod Army will notice a familar face in the home dugouts, manager, Jamie Milligan. The former Town midfielder was a key figure in Fleetwood’s side that gained promotion back in 2010.
His ‘goal’ against Farsley Celtic will be one he and many Town fans will remember for many years. Ironically, the goal was chalked off due to Celtic not being able to finish off their season, a decision to expunge points gained from Farsley's games meant that one of the most remarkable goals seen at Highbury was taken from the record books.
Brig boss, Milligan said on the announcement: "Playing Fleetwood in a pre-season friendly will be brilliant for myself and also the players. It allows us to test ourselves against quality opposition.
"I've got a great relationship with the Club and the fans, so it will be great to see a lot of familiar faces in the upcoming weeks.
"Lastly, I would like to Charlie Adam [Town's Head Coach] and the board for making this happen. It will be great to get as many fans down as possible to the stadium, and to make it a great occassion for all involved."
With supporters missing the football already, we wanted to kick-off early with our pre-season friendly announcements. Town do plan on having one pre-season match at Highbury, with details to follow soon.
The match against Bamber Bridge will kick-off at 3pm, with ticket prices and information to be announced in due course.
